Ray’s Monster Night in SLC

If there was any uncertainty about the new-look Boston Celtics, it’s starting to fade in the light of the last two road victories against the Clippers and the Jazz. Newcomers Green and Krstic are already showing signs of life in the Celtics tried-and-true system. But in the meantime they’ve got boston veterans like Ray Allen keeping up the same extraordinary level of play that landed four Boston boys in this year’s NBA All-Star game (Don’t forget Doc, who coached the East). Allen came out of the gates strong, with 3 triples in the first quarter to counter an early 10-2 lead by the Jazz. The Celtics came back to close out the 1st quarter with a 9-point lead. Far more important however were Allen’s 10 points in the final seven minutes, leading the way to a 107-102 Celtics victory.

After the game Ray had some comments on closing out this rocky 3-1 road-trip:

“Very, very satisfied. A lot of things have taken place over the last few weeks for us, still being away from home since the All-Star break. There’s always opportunity for when complacency settles in for the last game of the road trip and I think right now we’re satisfied that we ran through to the finish line and finished this trip off.”

-Ray Allen, 2/28/2011

Ray finished the game with a team-high 25 points and 5 3-pointers. We’ll finish this update with some fun for the comments section:

Finish this sentence. “Ray’s so good at shooting 3’s…”

Here’s one to get you started. Ray’s so good at shooting 3’s that every time he makes one it’s a record.
